The College of Science created an awards system to honor exceptional staff members. The Staff Recognition Quarterly Award, which is presented to two employees in April of each , spotlights outstanding job performance by non-academic College of Science staff members. Award winners exemplify excellence on the job, demonstrating a strong ability to work well in a team-centered environment as well as providing outstanding service on a college-wide basis.
“It’s important to recognize the role of staff in the teaching and research environment,” said College of Science dean Donald Straney. “They are central to what we do and these awards are a way of recognizing their exceptional contributions to the success of College of Science faculty and students.”
Each award winner receives a certificate, plaque, and lunch for two at Kellogg West. In addition, honorees receive college-wide recognition at a reception held in their honor.
Nomination forms for the Quarterly Award are sent out during the first week of January, April, and July and include information on employee eligibility. Potential award recipients are nominated by College of Science staff, faculty, students, and student organizations. Once the nominations are received, the Staff Awards Selection Committee will review applications and report their recommendations to the College of Science dean, who will make the final selection.
